Two questions, no spec sheet to look up: you get a realistic range. The exact amount is worked out with you for the chosen model.

Indicative estimate for an ENERGY STAR cold-climate certified unit ($120 per 1,000 BTU/h of capacity at −8 °C). Capacity at −8 °C varies by model: the range is 75% to 95% of the nominal size, which is what we see on the cold-climate models we install. The final amount is confirmed by Hydro-Québec.

Good practice

To avoid losing your grant

  • Check the unit’s eligibility (model, ENERGY STAR certification, capacity at −8 °C) before buying.
  • Keep the itemized invoice and the unit’s spec sheet.
  • Have your Hydro-Québec customer number and the work address ready.
  • Read the current program conditions — they can change without notice.
  • Ask us to validate the model and expected amount with you.
Beware of door-to-door sellers. A genuine program never asks you to pay to access it or to sign a contract on the spot. If in doubt, call us or Hydro-Québec.
